Firehouse Hostel

Nestled in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas, Firehouse Hostel and Lounge is a unique destination that blends comfort, history, and a vibrant nightlife. Housed in the city’s oldest standing fire station, Washington Fire Hall #1, the original facade at 605 Brazos was built in 1885 and was home to volunteer firemen through the turn of the 20th century. The Firehouse Hostel holds a piece of history as the station from which firefighter Jimmy Glass, badge number 13, embarked on his tragic final call to the Southeastern Telephone and Telegraph Company—now the Speakeasy Tavern.

This hostel and its hidden lounge offer a cozy yet eclectic atmosphere, perfect for travelers looking to immerse themselves in Austin’s lively culture. Brought to you by Walking Tours of Austin, Pub Walk Austin will take you on an adventure through some of Austin’s (not so easy to find) pubs, including The Firehouse Hostel and Lounge, while enjoying the rich tapestry of Austin’s history dating from the 1870s, and of course, a few haunted tales! If you’re a fan of a good drink and a great story, this experience is for you!

Pub Walk Austin can be booked at touratx.com. These guided tours not only take you through Austin’s rich history but also introduce you to its hidden and haunted pubs. With tales of ghostly encounters and secret speakeasies, these tours add a thrilling twist to your typical night out.
